“In advocating a sustainable ecosystem for culture, social engagement of arts, and cultural learning/understanding through the regional networks and connection, those arts and cultural activities will impact society.  Jennifer believes that those activities of networking will empower cultural practitioners to emerge from current issues of being isolated from others as well as being in a position of financial fragility. Jennifer's keywords are Art, Culture, and Society; Connect, Expand, and Broker; Context, Empathy, and Cohesion.”

PPSA(Phare Ponleu Selpak Association)는 비영리의 캄보디아 예술 훈련 학교로, 상기 언급된 접근 모델을 학교 자체 뿐 아니라, 자매 기관인 PPSE(Phare Performing Social Enterprise)에도 적용하고 있다. PPSA는 지속가능성을 추구하는 본 기관 활동을 유지하기 위해 다른 이해 관계자와 협력하는 별도의 부처(가족 내 구성원처럼)를 운영하고 있다.

Several concerns arise from my perspective through this ASEAN-KOREA project. As we understand the arts and culture landscape through divisions of governmentalisation, commodification, and democratization, it is important to look into such categories and gaps in an ASEAN context.

오늘날 나에게 가장 중요한 것은 예술가 정신을 잃지 않으면서 작업을 하고 발전하기 위한  지속가능한 공간을 갖는 것이다. 도전적인 환경은 개인의 에너지와 열정을 쉽사리 앗아갈 수 있기에, 그 과정에서 내면의 행복을 돌보는 것을 항상 잊지 말아야 한다. 나는 예술계 리더십은 공간을 갖고 변화를 도모하는 것이라고 생각한다.

공연 예술 내 통치화(governmentalization)와 상품화(commodification), 민주화(democratization)의 분류를 강조함으로써, 생태계 자체의 역학관계(dynamic)에 대한 보다 나은 이해와 명확한 설명이 제공될 수 있다. 상기 언급된 세 가지 범주를 통해, 작업규모와 작업내용, 제작과정, 지원 가능한 자원, 실제 기능 등 모든 요인들이 개별적으로 다른 역할을 수행하게 되었다.

생물학 연구에 따르면, 공생(symbiosis)은 손상되지 않고 균형 잡힌 자연의 상태이며, 상리공생(mutualism)은 생물들이 상호 호혜적이며 상호 기여하는 상태이다. 이러한 맥락에서, 나는 지속가능성(sustainability)이 공생적 시스템(symbiotic system)을 의미한다고 생각한다.

The Creative Platform for ASEAN-Korea is a network composed of planners and researchers who engage in cultural and art activities in Korea and ASEAN. This Platform aims to devise and carry out global cooperative projects connecting the fields of Korea and ASEAN, as well as share knowledge, information and experiences via people-to-people exchanges.

이러한 대화는 국제적 교류와 연대의 목적이 ‘새로운 미래(A New Future)’를 함께 그려나가는 과정이라는 점을 다시금 인지하게 했다. 각 주제어들은 ‘연대·협력을 위한 새로운 구조와 방법론’, ‘지속가능한 생태계’, ‘전환과 새로운 서사’를 중심으로 연결되었고, 이어지는 워크숍에서는 지속가능성과 변화에 대한 참여자 각자의 정의를 통해 그 내용의 구체성을 더했다.

코로나로 지속가능성(sustainability)과 전환(transformation)이라는 두가지 핵심 주제에 대해 전 세계가 다시 숙고하게 되었다. 코로나 영향의 규모가 엄청나지만, 이는 태국 제작자 및 실무자가 (많은 동남아시아 동료들과 마찬가지로) 당면했던 많은 문제들 중 하나일 뿐이다. 흥미롭게도 많은 북반구 국가(global north countries)들은 남반구 국가(global south countries)에서 회복력(resilience)과 전환 모델을 찾아왔으며, 태국은 종종 이러한 역량과 관련하여 높은 평가를 받아왔다.
