Korea-Thailand queer art exchange project <off_side_seoul>

Seoul Fringe Network(Korea) x H0M0HAUS, Makhampom(Thailand)

Through workshops such as watching performances, participating in festivals, and having conversations, the possibilities and limitations of queer art, and the characteristics and differences common to both countries were explored.

Introduction

Korean&Thai queer artists and producers visited Thailand's performing arts festival "H0M0HAUS2024" and Queer art scene of Seoul. Through workshops such as watching performances, participating in festivals, and having conversations, the possibilities and limitations of queer art, and the characteristics and differences common to both countries were explored.

In addition, the possibility of creation through international exchange is tested by sending Korean playwrights to the H0M0HAUS Writer For Diversity Incubation Project and presenting the works created through this at the Seoul Fringe Festival.
Through a roundtable that concludes this, a wide range of discussions on queer art were conducted and archived.

Participants

Seoul Fringe Network(KOR)

Seoul Fringe Network is a non-profit and social enterprise based in the independent arts scene. We aim to communicate with society through various arts activities and to create a rich and healthy arts ecosystem. We expand the arts and culture scene as a partner to artists helping sustainable creative activities and as a mediator connecting public bodies, citizens, and local communities.

Makhampom(THA)

Makhampom is a thai theatre group working to build theatre as people's media. Founded in 1980, the group has grown into a large collective of volunteers. We have a team in Bangkok at our  Makhampom Art Space and another team in Chiang Dao at our Makhampom Living Theatre.

We wear many hats, that include: developing Thailand's youth theatre movement; building a pool of professional theatre activists; creating new contemporary Thai theatre forms; transforming Thai society around issues of conflict, discrimination, freedom , and people's justice; having a long-term impact in communities in Chiang Dao;  transferring our knowledge and resources through international exchange, hosting, and collaborations; and running a social enterprise program to survive into the future and support young artists.
